Saudi Arabia likely to host Santosh Trophy knockout matches in February 2023

In an unprecedented move, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is planning to hold the knockout stages of the Santosh Trophy in Saudi Arabia in February 2023.


The AIFF and Saudi Arabia Football Federation signed an MoU to study the possibility of hosting the final stages of the Santosh Trophy in the West Asian country early next year.

In a media statement, AIFF said that to encourage state-level players to dream big, they are planning to move the knockout matches to Saudi Arabia, which will also allow them to connect with a large Indian community in the Arab state.

Meanwhile, president Kalyan Chaubey termed the move a remarkable development and stated that AIFF wanted to create a platform for Indian football and spread it among Indian fans all across the world.
