The Indian Football Association (IFA) has sent videos of Saikat Sarkar's spectacular overhead kick for Aryan FC in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) to FIFA for consideration for the best goal of the year award aka The Puskas Award.

The prize is given to the best goal scored across the world and is named after the famous Hungarian player Ferenc Puskas.

The IFA had specially sent a recommendation along with a letter to AIFF to send it to football's governing body.

“I used to practice these shots a lot in practice sessions under the guidance of my coach,” the left-wing forward told The Indian Express

“On the day of the match, I was fortunate that the ball was in perfect position and the execution was perfect,” he added.
