Southampton sacked manager Ralph Hasenhuttl on Monday with the team in the relegation zone in the Premier League. First Team Assistant Coach Richard Kitzbichler also left the club.

The decision came a day after "the Saints" lost 4-1 to Newcastle United, leaving the team third from bottom on the points table.

In an official statement, the club said, “Hasenhuttl, who was appointed in December 2018, departs having made a significant contribution to the club, overseeing some memorable results and also playing a key role in the development of our club infrastructure, identity and playing squad.

The 55-year-old from Austria had been in charge at Southampton for nearly four years.
