Raheem Sterling decided to fly back home from England's FIFA World Cup 2022 base in Qatar after armed intruders broke into his London home on Saturday night while his family were there.
The Chelsea forward was not part of Gareth Southgate's squad on Sunday as they beat African champions Senegal 3-0 to set-up a quarter-final showdown with France.
Southgate said in a post-match interview with British outlet ITV that he didn't know whether the 27-year-old forward would play any further part in the tournament.
"Sometimes football isn't the most important thing and family should come first. We're going to support that and leave him to have as much time as he needs" Southgate said.
