Racist chants hurled towards Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr., Atletico Madrid issues statement

In a match between local rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, the Atletico fans were heard shouting racial slurs that were targeted at Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. during the build-up of their match in LaLiga on Sunday.

Atletico Madrid did not directly comment on the situation before the game.

According to Local media, chants like “Vinicius, die” and monkey noises were also being heard throughout the game as visitors Real Madrid went on to win the game 2-1 on the night.

However, the club took to their Twitter account and wrote “Support Atletic with passion and respect for opponents.” later on.
