Premier League: Manchester United thrash Burnley 3-1 on Thursday night

In the last Premier League game of 2021, Manchester United put up a commanding display as they dismissed Burnley 3-1. The home game at the Old Trafford saw Manchester United put up a strong display despite having a rather misfiring season so far.

Scott McTominay smashed the opening goal in the 8th min of play as United opened their account early against the struggling Burnley. The visitors then contributed through an own goal as United raced to a 2-0 lead by the half an hour mark. Cristiano Ronaldo then hammered in United's third goal of the night as the Reds had a 3-0 lead soon after. 

Burnley did manage to find a goal in the opening half as the two teams went to break with United leading 3-1. 2nd half saw no goals as both teams managed a watertight defence as the final scoreline read 3-1 in United's favour. 

Ralf Ragnick's men finished 2021 with a comfortable win as with 3 points, they have climbed to the 6th spot on the table, Burnley meanwhile slipped further to the 18th.
