Premier League club Aston Villa have decided to part ways with manager Steven Gerrard after the club's 3-0 defeat to Fulham in the league.
With Aston Villa sitting just above the relegation zone, the club decided to sack the former Liverpool player after a string of poor results. It was right after the 42-year-old's post-match press conference that the club came out with the statement.
"Aston Villa Football Club can confirm that head coach Steven Gerrard has left the club with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement Thursday.
“We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment and wish him well for the future.” They further added.
Gerrard was appointed as Villa's manager after he won the Scottish Premier League with Rangers in his first managerial job.
