Morocco's national football team which made heads turn at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2022, might boycott the African Nations Championship set to start on January 13.

The Moroccan Football Federation has demanded that the team will only travel to Algeria, where the tournament will be hosted, if there is a direct flight from the Moroccan capital Rabat to the Algerian city of Constantine, where Morocco's games are scheduled to be played.

Due to their ongoing dispute over Western Sahara, the 2 neighbours severed diplomatic ties last year because of which Algeria banned Moroccan military and commercial aircraft from its airspace.

Algeria's government is yet to respond to the demand.
