Footballer Manisha Kalyan made history on August 18 as she became the first Indian player to compete in UEFA Women's Champions League. She represented Cyprus' Apollon Ladies FC in the competition.

Manisha was brought on as a substitute, replacing Marilena Georgiou with her team already 2-0 up around the hour mark. Although she didn't contribute to the scoresheet, she scripted history by just staying on the field.

Her team Apollon won the match 3-0 against Latvian club Rigas FS in the opening round of the UEFA women's Champions League qualifiers.

The 20-year-old footballer became the first Indian last year to score a goal against Brazil in senior football. Before moving to Cyprus, she represented Gokulam Kerala FC for three years.
