Erling Haaland scored his 24th goal of the season as Manchester City handed Liverpool a 3-2 defeat in the English League Cup.

While Carvalho equalised Haaland's early goal in the 20th minute, Riyadh Mahrez gave City the lead right after the half-time break. But Liverpool fought back to level things up in the very next minute through Mohd Salah. Nathan Ake proved to be the match-winner as his 58th-minute goal was enough to see Pep Guardiola's team stay on course for a fifth League Cup title in six seasons.
City will face Southampton next month for a spot in the semifinals.
