Former Germany great Jurgen Klinsmann has been appointed coach of the South Korean national football team.

58-year-old Klinsmann, who won the World Cup as a player with West Germany in 1990, replaces Paulo Bento at the helm.

The Portuguese coach left the team after leading South Korea to the knockouts at last year's World Cup in Qatar.

Klinsmann signed a contract through to the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
