Manchester United pulled off one of their best performances in recent times to stun arch-rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday night.
The Red Devils were under tremendous pressure coming into the game, having lost their first two games of the campaign. They were in fact bottom of the table after the two rounds.
But it was Erik ten Hag’s side that started on the front foot right from the word go. While Elanga hit the woodwork in the opening 10 minutes, it was Jadon Sancho’s calm finish that gave United the lead 6 minutes later.
The United defence soaked up all the pressure from Liverpool in the first half, and Marcus Rashford combined with Anthony Martial to double the lead in the 53rd minute.

While Mohd Salah pulled one back in the 81st minute to ensure a nervy finish, United kept their calm and composure to register their first win of the season.
United’s victory meant they jumped up to 14th on the League table, while Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are still winless so far and occupy the 16th spot.
