Bayern Munich have suspended forward Sadio Mane with immediate effect after he punched teammate Leroy Sane in the aftermath of Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
The club issued a statement that read, 'Sadio Mane will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday.'
The statement cited 'misconduct by Mane after Bayern's Champions League game at Manchester City' as the reason behind his absence. The Senegalese forward will also receive a fine for his actions.
