Moments after winning its maiden Indian Super League title by beating Bengaluru FC 4-3 on penalties in the final on Saturday night, ATK Mohun Bagan found a new name.

RPSG chairman Sanjiv Goenka announced that ATK Mohun Bagan will be renamed to Mohun Bagan Super Giants from the next season.

ATK Mohun Bagan was formed as a result of a merger between two football teams from Kolkata, Atlético de Kolkata (ATK) and Mohun Bagan.

However, there have been numerous protests from supporters to change the name and their demand has finally been answered.
