Tokyo 2020 may have been a big, big disappointment for wrestler Vinesh Phogat, but at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, she was once again back at her best.

She became only the 2nd Indian after Sushil Kumar to win 3 consecutive Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, the first Indian woman to do so at the quadrennial event.

She won Gold at Glasgow 2014 in the 48 kg category, she won Gold at Gold Coast 2018 and now she has once again taken the top honours at Birmingham 2022.

Vinesh won Gold after winning all her 3 bouts in her 53 kg category. With only 4 wrestlers including her in her weight group, the nordic system was used to decide the medals and Vinesh was easily the best among the competition.

She has once again shown why nobody has been able to displace her from the top in the last three editions.

The double-defending Champion will be the triple defending champion come 2026.
