CWG: Shuttler Lakshya Sen wins Men's Singles Gold on Commonwealth Games debut

Lakshya Sen beat Tze Yong NG of Malaysia 19-21, 21-9, 21-16 in one of the most fiercely contested men's singles final to clinch gold in his maiden Commonwealth Games.

The 22-year-old Malaysian, who beat former World No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth to make it to the final, started off well as World number 10, Sen lost closely in the opening game 19-21. But the World Championships bronze medallist staged a brilliant comeback to pull things back in the next. He won 15 of the last 16 points to take the second game 21-9.

The Indian youngster kept his composure in the deciding game and slew the giant killer 21-16 to win a historic gold. With that, he also extended his winning streak against Young to 3-0.
