Steve Smith has often proved to be a thorn in Team India's path and the World Test Championship (WTC) final was no different.

The former Australian skipper smashed his 31st Test century in the WTC final at the Oval, reaching the milestone in 230 balls.

It was Smith's 9th hundred from 36 innings vs India and he went past Ricky Ponting's record of scoring the most number of tons in whites vs the suncontinental giants.

Moreover, he also went past Virat Kohli in the list of most hundreds in Test matches between India and Australia. Sachin Tendulkar, with 11 hundreds and 16 fifties from 39 Tests, tops the list.

In the process, Smith also went past 2000 Test runs vs India.
