BCCI chief Roger Binny has said that India's Women's Premier League will be crucial in the development of women's cricket, especially at the grassroots level.

BCCI chief's statement came after the board announced the name of the 5 franchise owners of WPL. The rights of the teams were sold at a whopping ₹4669.99 crores.

Congratulating the board and the teams, Roger Binny in an officially released statement said that while strengthening women's cricket at the grassroots level, the league will also be a chance for Indian and foreign players to learn and grow together.

The tournament is expected to take place in March just before the Indian Premier League.
