Australian vice-captain Steve Smith lashed out at English media publication 'The Sun' for spreading fake news about his teammate Alex Carey.

The Sun, in a news article, had claimed that Australian cricketer Alex Carey did not pay the barber for his haircut in Leeds where he went alongside two of his teammates David Warner and Usman Khawaja ahead of the 3rd Test against England.

According to the report, Barber Adam Mahmood had said that out of the three players, it was Carey who didn't pay for his haircut as he didn't have any cash on him at the time. He also said that even though he gave Carey the benefit of the doubt, he will be upset if Carey didn't pay him by Monday.

Steve Smith took to his social media and wrote "I can confirm that Alex Carey has not had a haircut since we were in London. Get your facts right The Sun."
