Shreyas Iyer opened up about his recovery from the back injury which kept him out of action for 7 months this year.
Interestingly, he was ruled out of the Test series vs Australia mid-way in February and then missed the ODI series as well in March.
However, life came full circle for Iyer when he smashed his 3rd ODI hundred in the 2nd one day game against the same Aussies on September 24.
In the post-match interview Iyer called it a rollercoaster ride. 'I would like to thank myself, to be honest. For believing, at that point in time, on my abilities and also my mindset. I was feeling a bit lonely at that point of time, but thanks to my physios, my trainers and my family, to back me at that point of time, and I'm grateful to have them around. These are all these people being around me and lifting my spirits high. That motivated me to stay positive and optimistic at the same time. So I'm thankful, and I'm grateful,' he concluded.
Iyer has been India's Mr. Consistant at the number 3 spot in ODIs and has smashed 638 runs at a whopping average of 58 in 11 innings.
