After Ruturaj Gaikwad got out early in the 2nd ODI, Australia looked determined to bounce back in the series but Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill had other plans.
It was the Iyer and Gill show in Indore as the duo counter-attacked with a 200-run stand. It is now the 4th-highest partnership for India in ODIs against Australia for any wicket.
Iyer then sent out a loud message with his 3rd ODI hundred and first of this year.
Interestingly, he has been India's Mr. consistent at the number 3 spot in ODIs, where he has smashed 638 runs in 11 innings at a whopping average of 58.
Gill followed suit and became the fastest Indian to score 6 ODI hundreds. He took just 35 innings to reach the milestone, breaking Shikhar Dhawan's record, who took 11 innings more than Gill.
It was also his 5th in ODIs and 7th international ton this year. He now also has the most number of sixes in international cricket in 2023.
