Australia great, Shane Watson has dropped out of the race to be Pakistan's new limited overs head coach, ESPNCricinfo reported on Saturday.

Watson, who is currently also a coach for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League pulled out of contention in honour of his current coaching and commentary commitments.

Apart from the Gladiators', Watson also has a commentary deal with the IPL alongwith a head coach role at San Francisco Unicorns in USA's Major League Cricket.

The report elaborates that the main reason he withdrew was that he would have had to pull out of his other commitments on short notice to join the Pakistan national team with immediate effect.

This move means that the Men in Green will be sans a head coach for the upcoming 5-match T20I series against New Zealand next month.

The past week, Watson engaged in advanced discussions with Pakistan to take over as their head coach, with PCB reportedly even accepting his renumeration demands.
