Star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is reportedly gearing up for an on-field return as he is likely to play in IPL 2024.
Cricbuzz reported on December 11 that Pant is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and if all goes well, he will lead Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL edition.
The prolific cricketer will reportedly only partake as a batter and fielder if allowed to play.
The report went on to state that Pant taking on his wicketkeeping duties is subject to clearance by the BCCI given the nature of his ankle and back injuries from his accident.
The 24-year-old was involved in a near-fatal car crash on New Year's Eve last year and has been recovering from the consequent injuries.
As reported by Cricbuzz, it appears that the 'Impact Player' rule introduced in 2023 will be utilised for Pant's participation in the IPL.
Having missed the entirety of the 2023 season, Pant's absence was felt within the national team as well as his Delhi franchise.
