After another heartbreak in an ICC tournament, former India Head Coach Ravi Shastri feels that Team India needs to take some 'hard calls' with their ageing Test squad and learn from the Australian team who won the final of the World Test Championship 2023.

India looked miserable against the Aussies as the Pat Cummins-led side registered a 209-run win in the final. Analysing it, Shastri said, 'That's what the think tank and the selectors will have to see, sit and draw a plan, have the vision to see how to replenish your team.'

He also commended Australians for the same and said, 'They see where they want to be in 3 years time and they don't wait for 5 players to go away suddenly from the side'

He further highlighted that the Australian team is a mix of youth and experience and suggested that India too need to do that sort of planning. 'They are hard calls, people might not like it but it is the team's interest that is paramount and that's how you should look at it'
