Ravichandran Ashwin was destined for greatness ever since he stepped foot on the cricket field.

And the off-spinner is living up to that billing as he is just 1 wicket short of becoming only the second Indian after Anil Kumble to claim 500 Test wickets. He took 3 wickets in the 2nd innings of the Vizag Test and now sits at 499 Test wickets. The Elite 500 club features just 8 bowlers as of now.

Ashwin is now also the leading wicket-taker for India in Tests vs England. He currently has 96 wickets against the Three Lions in Tests.

The veteran went past the legendary leg-spinner Bhagwath Chandrasekhar, who picked up 95 wickets from 23 wickets with 8 five-wicket hauls to his name. Before the Test match, Ashwin was 2 wickets short of breaking the record.

Number 1 ranked ICC bowler, Ashwin will now try and achieve this inevitable feat in the 3rd Test.
