The Chennai Super Kings revealed their released players' list on Sunday and to fans' delight, it didn't have MS Dhoni's name.

The news means that Dhoni's chances of playing in IPL 2024 have increased manifold. MSD was about to retire after IPL 2023 but after CSK won the trophy, Dhoni said that he might push for another season but will take a call later on.

Had he decided not to play anymore, CSK would have released him as a player. Just like they did with Ambati Rayudu, who was part of their released players' list, since he hung up his boots after IPL 2023.

CSK released 8 players and will go into the IPL mini auction on December 19 with ₹32.1 crore in their purse.

Chennai Super Kings released players: Ben Stokes, Dwaine Pretorius, Ambati Rayudu, Sisanda Magala, Kyle Jamieson, Bhagath Varma, Subhranshu Senapati & Akash Singh

CSK Remaining Purse: ₹32.1 crore
