In a major change to IPL 2023 rules, captains will now pick their playing XI after the toss.

'This has been changed to enable teams to choose the best XI depending on whether they are batting or bowling first. It will also assist the teams to plan for the impact player,' read a note accessed by ESPNcricinfo.

It's not the first time that this will happen as SA20 became the first T20 league to allow captains to choose their playing XI after the coin toss.
