Acclaimed domestic coach Chandrakant Pandit was appointed as the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday.
The IPL franchise made the announcement on social media with their CEO Venky Mysore saying that Chandrakant Pandit's deep commitment to what he does and his track record of success in domestic cricket, is there for everyone to see. 'Chandu sir', as he is fondly referred to, recently guided Madhya Pradesh to their maiden Ranji Trophy title.
He was roped in for the top role after Brendon McCullum decided to step down earlier this year to focus on England's Test coaching job. Interestingly, among the existing 10 franchises, Pandit will only be the second Indian after Ashish Nehra to head the coaching staff of an IPL franchise.
