After a drama-filled IPL retention Sunday, the Gujarat Titans broke their silence on November 27.
Taking to their social media, the 2022 IPL winners announced youngster Shubman Gill as their new captain for the upcoming season.
Gill takes over from Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat to their maiden title. The Titans also bid goodbye to Hardik, thanking him for all the memories and wished him well.
Across their 2 seasons so far, the 24-year-old prolific batter has been Gujarat's highest run-getter, amassing 1373 runs.
The 2024 season will be Gill's first stint as captain since his debut in 2018.
Apart from Gill, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was also rumoured to take over the reins from Hardik.
Williamson has previously captained Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018, leading them to the finals. He was also the skipper from 2021 till his exit from the team.
Hardik Pandya, meanwhile, returns to his old home, the Mumbai Indians, where he played from 2015 to 2021.
