Amid the rising cases of Covid-19 in India, BCCI revised the venues for the upcoming home series against West Indies, board secretary Jay Shah announced late on Saturday.

The Windies are scheduled to first play 3 ODIs and then as many T20s in India starting 6th February. Originally the 6 matches were to be played at 6 different locations but they will now be played in 2 venues only.

BCCI in its statement informed that while the 3-match ODI series will be played at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, the 3 T20 matches will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The decision has been taken to mitigate biosecurity risks by cutting down on travel and movement of teams, match officials, broadcasters and other stakeholders, said BCCI.

The 3 ODIs will be played on 6th, 9th and 11th of February. The opening T20 match between the 2 nations however has been shifted due to the IPL mega auctions which will be held on February 12th and 13th. The 3-match T20 series will begin from February 16th instead of 15th.
