The India vs Bangladesh Test series starts soon, and today we’ve got some exciting records for you that could be achieved during this two-match showdown.Virat Kohli is on the verge of a huge milestone.
He needs just 152 more runs to join the exclusive club of Indian batters who have scored 9,000 Test runs. He will be only the 4th Indian batter to achieve the feat after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sunil Gavaskar.
Kohli is also just 58 runs away from becoming the fastest player to reach 27,000 international runs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record of doing it in 623 innings. Kohli, with 591 innings under his belt, could make this happen in the very first Test!
Indian captain Rohit Sharma is also eyeing a different kind of record. He’s only 8 sixes away from breaking Virender Sehwag’s record of hitting the most sixes by an Indian in Test cricket. Sehwag sits at 91 sixes, and with Rohit’s explosive style, he could surpass that number during this series.
For Bangladesh, their veteran wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim is chasing history. He’s just 108 runs away from becoming the first Bangladeshi player to score 6,000 Test runs. And we know how much he loves India. So, there’s a strong chance he’ll reach this milestone in the series.
World's No. 1 Test all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, is about to hit the 300-Test wicket mark. He needs only six more scalps to become only the 7th Indian cricketer to reach a triple hundred in terms of wickets.
Ravi Jadeja's spin partner, Ravichandran Ashwin, is also nearing another milestone in his Test career. The off-spinner has taken 23 wickets in 6 Tests against Bangladesh and is just 9 wickets away from leapfrogging Zaheer Khan for most wickets by an Indian against the Tigers.
After their series win over Pakistan, Bangladesh are flying high. Even though it's highly unlikely, they might just secure their first Test victory over India on this tour. Out of the 13 matches played between these two teams previously, Bangladesh have lost 11 and drawn 2.
Lastly, this series could be historic for India as well. A win in either of the two Tests would mean India would finally have more Test victories than losses. With their Test record currently tied at 178 wins and 178 losses, a victory could put India on the right side of history.
