Rohit Sharma was making his captaincy debut in Tests but all eyes were on Virat Kohli as Team India took on Sri Lanka in the 1st Test in Mohali.

The morning began with a special felicitation ceremony of the former India captain, who was joined by his wife Anushka Sharma. As India opted to bat first, Virat had to walk out earlier than he would liked to as India was 2 down for 80. Though Kohli hasn't scored an international hundred in over 2 years but hasn't looked out of form in any of his knocks. The 1st innings of the Mohali Test were no different. Virat dominated the bowlers from the word go and looked good for a big score.

He soon completed 8000 runs in Test cricket and became only the 6th Indian batter to achieve that feat.

But against the run of play, Virat was cleaned up by spinner Lasith Embuldeniya for 45. He though has one more innings to go before the completion of his 100th Test.
