Rohit Sharma might have asked to be rested from the white-ball leg of the South Africa tour but the Hitman will be back to lead Team India in the Test series.

Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar feels that it will be a big opportunity for Rohit to make up for the World Cup loss.

During an interaction with Star Sports, Gavaskar said, 'Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were really at the peak of their powers in the last 6-8 months. Like Jacques Kallis said Rohit Sharma is going to be key for India in the Test series. Rohit Sharma will have a big role to play to set up the No. 3,4,5. Whatever happens, this is Rohit Sharma's opportunity to make up for the World Cup final loss.'

Rohit was last seen on the cricket field in the India vs Australia World Cup final on November 19. He skipped the T20I series vs the Aussies and also the limited-overs series in South Africa.

Suryakumar Yadav is leading the T20I team while KL Rahul was appointed as the captain for the ODI side in the absence of Rohit.
