Greg Chappell's era in Indian cricket isn't rated very highly by most players in fans. Sourav Ganguly has often openly criticised the coach from Australia and Virender Sehwag made a fresh revelation about him.
In a SportsNext interview, Viru said revealed that during his time in the Indian team, he asked his seniors why there couldn’t be an Indian coach after John Wright, and the answer he got was that bias was a big factor.
'A player who is not a favourite, lands in a lot of trouble,' he added.
'They believed that if a foreign coach came, he would judge all the players according to how they needed to be judged. But actually, this isn’t true because foreign coaches have their favourites as well. They too see the name, be it Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly or Laxman. When Greg Chappell came, the first statement he made was ‘Sehwag will be captain’. In two month, forget captaincy, I was out of the team,' Sehwag recalled.
