Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial role in ensuring that Naushad Khan, father of debutant Sarfaraz Khan, was present to witness his son's landmark moment of receiving his Test cap. The emotional ceremony took place on the first day of the third Test against England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, with Sarfaraz's wife also in attendance.

The sight of Naushad Khan, overcome with emotion as Sarfaraz was officially inducted into the Indian Test team, was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices and dreams that fuel the journey of cricketers. Sarfaraz, on his part, made the occasion even more memorable by scoring an impressive 62 runs in his debut innings.

However, Naushad's presence at the event was far from guaranteed. Concerned about adding pressure on his son and battling a cold, he was initially reluctant to attend. It was a heartfelt message from Suryakumar Yadav, one of India's premier T20 batsmen, that ultimately swayed his decision.

Sharing the persuasive words that tipped the scales, Naushad recounted Suryakumar's message, which highlighted the unparalleled joy of sharing such milestone moments with family. "I do understand your emotions. But trust me, when I made my Test debut (last year in March against Australia in Nagpur) and was receiving my Test cap, my father and mother were just behind. And that moment was something beyond special. These moments don’t come too often. So I would suggest that you must go," Suryakumar had written.

Moved by Suryakumar's encouragement and the prospect of being part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience, Naushad hastily made arrangements to be in Rajkot. "After this message from Surya, I couldn’t stop myself from coming. Just took a pill and came here yesterday," he shared, grateful for the nudge that allowed him to witness his son's proud entry into Test cricket.
