Krunal Pandya, LSG's skipper after his team's 81-run loss explained why Lucknow dropped 'world-class batter' Quinton de kock against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 Eliminator.

Though the South African cricketer played well in the four league games where he was picked by LSG, Lucknow dropped him in the eliminator and instead brought in Kyle Mayers. The decision however did not help the team much who got knocked out of the eliminator for a second successive season after suffering the embarrassing loss in Chennai.

Pandya who was made the skipper after injury-stricken KL Rahul was ruled out of IPL 2023, called it a tough decision and explained, 'de Kock is a quality player, a world-class batter, but it's just Kyle had a better record here. it was a very tough decision but we just felt we can go with kyle at that time'
