A 'disappointed and disgusted' Gautam Gambhir slammed other former cricketers who endorse pan masala products in advertisements.
The former Indian cricketer in an interview with News18 said that he had never in his career thought that a cricketer would endorse pan masala and went on to add that people should choose their role models wisely.
Without naming anyone, Gambhir took a dig at the former cricketers who take up such jobs for monetary benefits.
Several retired cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar & Chris Gayle were seen promoting a sweet elaichi product of one of the pan-masala companies during the IPL.
He said, "Crores of kids are watching you and money is not that important that you will end up doing a pan masala ad, you should have the courage to let go of the big pay cheque rather than do such a thing."
Gambhir revealed that in 2018, he declined an offer of Rs 3 crores for featuring in a pan masala commercial.
He also heaped praise on Sachin Tendulkar who has never taken up work like that. As per Gambhir, Sachin was offered a 20-crore pan masala commercial which he turned down as he had promised his father that he would never engage in such stuff.
