In a defamation suit filed by Gautam Gambhir against the newspaper Punjab Kesari, the Delhi High Court refused to pass an interim order in favour of the BJP MP and LSG mentor.

Commenting on the suit, Justice Chandra Dhari Singh said that an elected person need not be so sensitive.

'Any public person should be thick-skinned... Nowadays, judges should also be thick-skinned,' the Delhi HC judge added.

In his defamation plea, the cricketer-turned-politician sought Rs 2 crore damages from the Hindi newspaper and sought removal of alleged defamatory publications from the newspaper's website along with an apology in all its editions.

The next hearing in the matter will take place on October 18.
