Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has been advised surgery on his fractured right index finger.

Green, who picked a 5-wicket haul in the Boxing Day Test, was hit on the hand by a pacy Anrich Nortje delivery during his knock of 51*. The all-rounder though is expected to recover and be available for selection for the Test series against India that starts on February 9.

Green's compatriot Mitchell Starc though could miss the first Test in Nagpur, having injured his bowling hand during fielding on the opening day of the MCG Test. The pacer's recovery is expected to take longer than Green's since it's a tendon issue.

Both players have already been ruled out of the New Year Test in Sydney next week.
