Perth Scorchers won their fifth Big Bash League title after beating Brisbane Heat by 5 wickets in the final at Perth Stadium.

Chasing a daunting 176-run target, Scorchers lost three wickets inside 8 overs when experienced duo Ashton Turner and Josh Inglis came together. The duo stitched an 80-run stand and brought the defending champions back on track.

But Brisbane brought themselves back in the game with two quick wickets as the defending champions needed 38 off the last 3 overs.

Nick Hobson and Cooper Connolly, then, ensured there would be no more hiccups as Perth went over the line with 3 balls to spare.

Earlier, a combined batting effort from Heat propelled them to 175-7 but that was not enough in the end.
