The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially declared that the venue for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will be Dubai. This event will take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in the vibrant city on December 19.
In an update conveyed to the IPL franchises, the BCCI has extended the deadline for the release of the list of retained players to November 26. Initially, this deadline was set for November 15, but it has now been pushed back to allow teams more time to make critical decisions regarding player retention.
The IPL auction is expected to be a riveting affair as it marks the final season of the three-year contracts for players, setting the stage for a mega auction next year. IPL franchises will be working within a salary cap of INR 100 crore as they formulate their squads for the upcoming season.
While the trade window has been open for a while, there has been relatively little activity. However, it is anticipated that teams will make strategic moves, possibly releasing underperforming high-salaried players before the extended retention deadline of November 26.
