The ongoing Ashes series continue to be rocked by Covid-19 as England's head coach Chris Silverwood has tested positive for the deadly virus.

He was already in isolation ever since he was deemed a close contact to a Covid-positive person. Silverwood is asymptomatic and expected to stay in quarantine until 8 January. The English camp had reported 1st positive case during the Boxing Day Test match and since then, the touring party has registered 7 positives — 3 support staff and 4 family members.

England fast bowling coach Jon Lewis, spin coach Jeetan Patel and strength and conditioning boss Darren Veness are reportedly among those in isolation.

Despite the scare, both English and Australian boards decided to go ahead with the Test series as planned. Australia currently lead the series 3-0, with the 4th Test due to start on January 5.
