The murmurs of Moeen Ali considering a return to Test cricket were true.

The all-rounder came out of retirement and was added to England's Test squad for the Ashes series vs Australia.

After off-spinner Jack Leach was ruled out of the Ashes due to a lower-back stress fracture, the England and Wales Cricket Board had asked Moeen Ali to consider reversing his retirement decision.

The 35-year-old agreed and was added to England's squad for the first two Ashes Tests at Edgbaston and Lord's.

Moeen Ali had retired from Test cricket after the series vs India in September 2021 and has not played a first-class match since then.
