Unbeatable India strengthened their position in the top spot in the points table as they reduced high-flying South Africa to ruins with a monumental 243-run win in Kolkata in the Cricket World Cup.

After choosing to bat first, Rohit Sharma gave India a good start with a quickfire 24-ball 40. Birthday boy Virat however was the star of the evening as he struck his 49th hundred and shared a 134-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer to take India to an imposing 326/5

Ruthless Indian bowlers then tore down the famed Proteas batting lineup, ousting them for a mere 83 in 27.1 overs where Marco Jansen was the highest scorer with 14. While Jadeja shone with his first 5-wicket haul in ODIs, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav picked 2 each as India registered a spellbinding consecutive 8th win.
