Indian shuttlers Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy brought glory to India at the 2018 Gold Coast event. The prolific duo will now look to replicate their success at the upcoming Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

World no. 8 pair of Shetty & Rankireddy, who were a part of the Thomas Cup winning group, qualified for the 2022 edition of the quadrennial event through a league-based trial conducted by the Badminton Association of India in April.

At Gold Coast, the duo helped India clinch a silver medal, which also was the country’s first ever medal in Men’s doubles category at the marquee event. The pair also guided India to its historic first-ever Mixed Team gold medal.

Shetty and Rankireddy, since the memorable Thomas Cup win, have only competed at the Malaysia Open. From that tournament too, the duo had to withdraw, after Shetty suffered an injury.

However, Shetty has recovered and alongside his doubles partner, Rankireddy will now look to continue their good run.
