Sports Ministry released ₹6,801.3 cr under various sports development schemes in last 5 years

Union Sports minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday informed that his department has released ₹6,801.30 crores under various sports development schemes in the last 5 years.

The BJP minister who revealed the information through a written reply in Lok Sabha further said that his ministry was allotted 7,072.28 crores in the last 5 years.  

Although sports is a state affair, and the centre only aids them, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is responsible for the Khelo India scheme, all the national level awards, pensions, and running different training centers through the Sports Authority of India.
