Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on Thursday after a highly volatile session.
The Sensex closed 172 points down at 39,749 and the Nifty fell 0.50% to end the trade at 11,670.
L&T, Titan, Adani Ports, ONGC and Axis Bank were the top laggards.
The rupee continued its downward journey, sliding another 23 paise to settle at 74.10 against the US dollar.
