Equity markets ended Tuesday on a flat note amid mixed global cues. Banking stocks tumbled while strong buying was witnessed in the IT sector.
The Sensex ended the day 31 points up at 40,625 and the Nifty closed the trade at 11,934, 0.03% higher than its previous day closing rate.
HCL Tech, Infosys, Kotak Bank, Reliance and Ultratech Cement were the top gainers. While Cipla, Titan, Adani Ports, Divis Labs and ICICI Bank were the top five losers.
The rupee depreciated 7 paise to settled at 73.35 against the US dollar.
