The central govt on Friday issued a set of guidelines to states for management of the Covid-19 pandemic and cautioned that people should not lower their guards as the second wave is not yet over. Seventy-one districts reported a positivity rate of more than 10% in the week from June 23 to 29, the Health Ministry said.

The govt has asked local administrations to identify districts with more than 10% positivity rate or districts where oxygen and ICU bed occupancy in hospitals is more than 60% and impose highest level of restrictions for a minimum of 14 days. In areas of the district which are not under containment, clearly defined relaxations or restrictions may be provided.

For efficient management of the pandemic, the states have been advised to appointing a senior officer as the Nodal Officer for these districts. States have been asked to take necessary action for containment and health infrastructure upgradation and do a microanalysis based on clusters of cases at the district level.

Lastly, they have been told to implement the Test-Track-Treat-Vaccinate strategy and ensure Covid-19 appropriate behaviour is being followed.
