There is finally some good news on the Covid front. Scientists at the University of North Carolina have claimed to have developed a hybrid vaccine which is expected to prevent infections from future coronavirus variants.

Being dubbed a "super vaccine", scientists say that it protected mice not just against Covid-19 during tests, but also against other coronaviruses while triggering the immune system to fight off a dangerous variant.

Scientists say that they designed the vaccine to provide protection against the current SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and a group of coronaviruses that have the potential to transmit from animals to humans.

Additional testing could also lead to human trials next year.

The findings of the study have been published in the journal 'Science'.
